About The Barrie Lawn Bowling Club

The Club originally consisted of two clubs, the Barrie Lawn Bowling Club and Allandale Lawn Bowling Club which date back to 1902 and 1906.  They were outdoor greens, there was eventually only one club which was the Allandale Lawn Bowling Club.  In 1999 the City of Barrie sold the property on which the club was located. The new owners provided a letter advising them that they had to vacate the premises.  A New Dome Facility was erected in the north end of Barrie and in May 2000 indoor lawn bowling started.

The Barrie Lawn Bowling Club members meet every Monday and Wednesday at 12:30 PM for two or three hours of relaxed moderate exercise in a very social atmosphere.  Both men and women participate in our sport.  We play what is called “a jitney” which is a casual, pick-up game where teams are formed by drawing names randomly. It's a social event where members can play with different people each time, and there are typically no set teams or long-term commitments.

Our calendar is organized into two seasons: Summer Season, which is conducted from May until September; and Winter Season, which is conducted from October until April.

We welcome new people to try our sport.  We provide training, all you need are flat soled shoes and casual clothes we will provide all of the equipment you need to get started along with club bowls.  Our members are all very friendly and will provide tips and advice to help you learn and enjoy our sport.

Drop in and see how our sport is played and what we are all about.
